Terms of Service

By using wft? you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're written in plain English and won't take long.

1. About wft?

wft? ("the app", "the service") is a family meal planning application operated by Amanda Jones ("we", "us", "our"), available at whats-for-tea.com and as an Android application. ICO registration number: ZC138593.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use wft?. If you are under 16, you must have the permission of a parent or guardian. By using the service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

The app is designed for personal, non-commercial family use. Use of the service for any commercial purpose is not permitted without our prior written agreement.

3. Accounts and PINs

To use wft? you will create an account with your name, email address, and a 6-digit PIN. You are responsible for:

Keeping your PIN confidential
All activity that occurs under your account
Notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised

We recommend choosing a PIN that you don't use elsewhere. We cannot recover your PIN if forgotten — you would need to contact the family admin to remove and re-invite you.

4. Family Groups

wft? operates around shared family groups. When you create a family, you become the family admin. As admin you can:

Invite other members by email
Set members as admins or viewers
Configure game rules (vetoes, jokers, meal counts)
Lock and unlock the weekly plan
Reset vetoes and jokers
Add and remove meals from the family library

By inviting someone to your family group, you confirm you have their permission to share their email address with us for the purpose of sending the invitation.

Family data — including meal plans, ratings, vetoes, and the meal library — is shared among all members of the family group.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use wft? to:

Upload or share any unlawful, harmful, or offensive content
Attempt to access another user's account without authorisation
Interfere with the operation of the service or its infrastructure
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you add to the service, such as meal names, ingredients, and recipes. By adding content, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to store and display that content to members of your family group for the purpose of operating the service.

We do not use your meal data for any purpose other than providing the service to your family.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

wft? is currently free to use. We may introduce optional paid features or a subscription tier in the future. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and your continued use of any free features will not be affected.

Any future paid features will be clearly labelled and will require your explicit consent before any charge is made. Subscription terms, pricing, and cancellation rights will be set out clearly at the point of purchase.

8. Service Availability

We aim to keep wft? available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at any time. Where possible, we will give reasonable notice of any significant changes.

9. Intellectual Property

The wft? name, logo, branding, and application code are owned by Amanda Jones and protected by intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from these without our prior written permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to:

Loss of data due to technical failure
Disputes between family members arising from use of the app
Dinner arguments regardless of what the app suggests

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

11. Third-Party Services

wft? relies on third-party services including Google Firebase, Resend, and Netlify. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of these services. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify family admins by email. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
